Hugs
Mood:  hug me
Topic: Thoughts about Life

Hugs are a form of communication whether people realize it or not.  A hug can say and mean more that the spoken word.

Though words can and do bring comfort to a person a hug who gets hugged feels its benifits instantly and deeply.  Some hugs say, "Hi, I'm so happy to see you".  Others say things like, "I'm so sorry", "Good bye", "Congratulations" and, so many other things without a single word being uttered.

In my opinion the most powerful and meaningful hug is that one that says, "I Love you!".  Every human being, whether they admit it or not needs to feel that kind of hug once in a while.  It makes them feel wanted, needed and loved.  It also makes them want to love someone.  To feel the love that comes from such a hug brings happiness, joy and well-being to a person, especially if that person is feeling extremely lonely and unloved.

I sure could use one of those right now :(

Dad's Gift
Mood:  special
Topic: Humorous Thoughts

It can be said that my dad's greatest gift was life itself.  It could also be argued that his greatest gift to me was that he took care of my every need as a child. Or, one could claim that his love was and is the greatest gift of all but, I think there is one thing my dad gave me that surpasses even those; "Laughter".

I love to hear him laugh.  Even as a child I'd pull his finger just to hear him laugh about the gigantic farts that he'd let fly.  No matter how corney or strange my jokes were, he'd laugh at them.  He even laughed at most of his own jokes.  The sound of his laughter did and still does fill me with warmness and joy and the feelings of love that I know he has for me.

He also passed that laughter down to me; he taught me to laugh at the silly things in life and gave me the ability to make the serious thing sound silly.  Like my dad, I like making people laugh, it not only makes me feel better but it also makes them feel better.  Laughter is the best medicine and my dad has overdosed me with it and taught me how to share it with others.

For that I'll be eternally thankful to him.  Dad, I love you, you old fart,

Now pull my finger!

Why Do They Lie
Mood:  irritated
Topic: Thoughts about Religion

Christianity teaches that folloers of Christ aren't to tell a lie.  They teach and know that God ABHORES the lie and the father of them, Satan.

A lie is a lie, no matter its size.  Whether it's a "little White Lie" or a "Whopper", its still a lie nonetheless.  So, knowing that whay do they willing lie to their children?

They tell their kids stories about how important it is for them to be good little rug rats around Christmas time or Santa Clause won't come vistit them.  The adult knows that Santa is not real yet they do their best to convince their children that he is.  They do the same with the Easter Bunny too.

They'll argue that those charactors are only make believe and ficticious but the stories that Mom and Dad tell the kiddies sure do convice the little ones that they are true.  In my mind that's when they become a lie.  So,

Why tell a lie to a kid when you're not supposed to?

Are They Ignorant or just Unexucated?
Mood:  d'oh
Topic: Thoughts about Life

I really can't figure some people out.  I quite often run across people with normal or, "Perfect" vision that seem to have a more serious problem then I do.  I can't figure if they are ignorant or just don't know better.

I can't count the amount of times that I've encounterd people on the street who when I'm alone tend to shout at me while talking.  They think that because I can't see them that I'm also deaf I suppose.  If I'm with another person who is sighted and encounter a stranger and that stranger wants to speak to me they tend to ask the sighted person standing next to me, placing me in the their person roll.  "Is he toally Blind", Does he feed or clothe himself" and, my favorite, "ist that his dog that's guiding him?"

It rally makes me shake my head in amazment sometimes.

Visiting A Restaraunt
Mood:  silly
Topic: Humorous Thoughts

One day in the summer of 2005 while down in St. Petersburg, Florida I, in the company of my Seeing Eye Dog, Asa, went into this rather nice restaruant.  After standing at the front for some 10 minutes waiting to be seated I became a bit anxious to sit down.  Since nobody had approached me as yet I picked my Seeing Eye Dog up by his taile and began spinning around in circles.

All of a sudden I had attracted the attention of virtually everyone within sight of me including the Manager of the restaruant and its head waiter who both came skuttling across the dinning room shouting, "Sir, sir, what are you doing there sir, you shouldn't be spinning that dog by the tail like that".  To which I replied, "But I'm only having a look around trying to find a table to sit at".

Of couse this is not true, it's just a joke, I'd never do such a thing to any animal let alone one with whome I'm so closely attached.  It's just an example of a Blind man making light of his own impairment.

What is it?
Mood:  quizzical
Topic: Random Thoughts

Why is it that people are so shallow?  Why do they tend to judge another based on their outward appearance?  As a blind person I can state without doubt that your outter appearance doesn't say anything about who you are.  Unfortunately society thinks otherwise.

The best looking Super Model can have the ugliest personality and be a very hateful person while the person who looks like he or she's been beaten with an ugly stick is the most beautiful person inside.

It just doesn't make sense to me.
